Røros
Possibly known by Netflix lovers for the Norwegian winter hit series "Hjem till hjul" ("Home till Christmas"), Røros in the Trøndelag area of Norway is a gem. On the UNESCO World Heritage list, the town with its gorgeous wooden buildings looks a bit different in summer. But the picturesque streets cannot be missed.
I visited Røros a day after driving over the wild Atlantic Ocean road, back in 2016. These photos were previously unpublished.
The ravishing wild beauty of the Norwegian landscape already starts right outside the town, with a modest waterfall, crystal clear water and mountains calling.

Røros started as a copper mining town back in the second part of the 1600s. Leftovers from the mining are piled up in walkable hills just outside the town centre.

Tydal & Selbu
Follow the inland road from Røros to Trondheim and, staying close to the border with Sweden, one treats itself with vast views into the landscape of Tydal. With 1,328.66 km2 (513.00 sq mi) the municipality is almost the size of Greater London, or twice the size of New York City, yet it has less than 800 inhabitants. Apart from spring, when about 5,000 Norwegians make their way from Oslo and other areas to relax and enjoy the Norwegian "outback" during Easter.
The single main road that gets you through Tydal passes the small lakes of Stuggusjøen and Mosjøen. When your heading turns from north to northwest, and you are approaching the Selbu municipality, the Skarvan og Roltdalen National park of 44,150 acres big lies a little further from on the road north of you.
Driving the Stuggadalsvegen road, that turns into the Tydalsvegen road in Selbu, is summer is a joy for everyone seeking peace and tranquillity. There are a few places worth a break, and a hike in the surrounding landscape.

Further northwest on the Tydalsvegen the landscape turns more green and cultivated, with forest, and villages.
