A man in the spotlight (self-portrait).

A beautiful estate, impressive minimalistic architecture and a very Instagrammable collection of art. That sums up what Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar, the Netherlands, has to offer. Displaying parts of the privately-owned collection of industrialist and art collector Joop van Caldenborgh (The Caldic Collection) it is great fun to visit Voorlinden.
Museum Voorlinden is on short distance from both the cities of The Hague and Leiden. The photos of this story I took in July 2024. Some show art from the permanent collection, some of the temporarily one.

The museum building
Dirk Jan Postel of van Kraaijvanger architects was the designer of the 4,000 square metre (43,065 sq feet) modern museum building that was opened in September 2016. The minimalistic and very functional design is a joy to discover, with wall-heigh glass windows and nature stone walls. The gardens and the museum restaurant, located in the former mansion, date back to 1912 and have the look and feel of an English estate.
