"If you want to see paradise on Earth, come to Dubrovnik," George Bernard Shaw, 20th Century Irish playwright and political activist, once said. While every one might have their own little paradise on earth, Dubrovnik does impress—tremendously.

UNESCO calls Dubrovnik the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', and it has been on the World Heritage List since 1974. While the Serbian armies took aim at Dubrovnik during the 1990s Balkans Wars, the city has recovered since. Restoration is still ongoing, but for visitors of today, Dubrovnik is indeed a gem like it was before the conflict.
