High above the modern, rises the ancient. Narrow cobblestone streets shielding the sun. Arches and churches, tourists and locals. One can spend hours just living life in the old town of Bergamo, Lombardia region, Italy. Enjoying the sights and sounds on the main square, Piazza Vecchia. Or indulge oneself to the sweet tastes of the local bakery. Or why not take a stroll along the edges and enjoy the view over the new town below. Even further up is castle hill, with good food. For those who do not like climbing, a funiculare - or cable tram, will bring you from the new town to the old town, and from the old town up to castle hill.
